Code of conduct

Every member and every leader agrees to this, at every level of the organization. It applies to chapter officers and to ASSPIN Global exactly as it applies to a member who joined yesterday.

Prohibited

  • Harassment of any kind.
  • Discrimination, including on national origin, race, religion, gender, disability or immigration status.
  • Fraud, including misrepresenting a professional credential.
  • Abuse or exploitation of any member, and sexual exploitation in particular.
  • Financial exploitation, including charging members for what ASSPIN provides freely.
  • Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern.
  • Misuse of organizational resources or of the ASSPIN name.
  • Unauthorized disclosure of another member’s private information.

Safeguarding

Special protection applies to students, to minors in permitted programmes, to vulnerable migrants, to people experiencing exploitation, to survivors of violence, and to members who report abuse. Safeguarding procedures are country-sensitive, because what protects someone differs by jurisdiction.

If you report something, it will not be routed to the person you reported

A safeguarding report is never attached to the chapter it concerns, and is visible only to safeguarding officers. That is enforced in the platform, not left to process — because the person being reported is sometimes a chapter officer, and a protection that depends on who happens to open the queue is not a protection.
